The Welshman finished his career in the best way, defeating Mikkel Kessler, Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones Jr.

Talking to Darren Barker at First Round TV, Calzaghe was asked what his game plan would have been against Canelo: “I think my style would be all wrong for him. You know fast hands, southpaw. You know, unpredictable combination puncher. Too much for him.

“I think if you look at the way Bivol beat him. Bivol, you know really top fighter, Bivol. But he doesn’t have the same work rate, but he has a good in-and-out movement. Fast, you know, in and out, combinations, variation, uppercut, body shots,” said Calzaghe.
