Jake Paul vs Gervonta Davis in limbo with huge name contacted as replacement
Jake Paul vs Gervonta Davis is scheduled to headline a Most Valuable Promotions fight card on November 14, live on Netflix for all subscribers from the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida.
The 10-round exhibition has faced widespread criticism, but in a stunning twist, reported by Sports Illustrated, it seems Paul vs Davis may not happen at all, with Ryan Garcia approached to replace Tank.
Jake Paul vs Gervonta Davis November 14 fight in jeopardy
Jake Paul vs Gervonta Davis has been rocked by the latest legal troubles for Tank, with the WBA lightweight champion accused of domestic violence, kidnapping, and other offences.
It’s not the first time Tank has found himself with legal problems, most recently when he was arrested on a battery charge in July.
Controversy also reared its head when Davis fought to a majority draw against Lamont Roach Jr on March 1. Many felt Roach had done enough, especially with Tank taking a knee that went unpunished during and after the bout.
A supposed rematch between the two was indefinitely postponed when Davis opted to face Paul instead.
According to an X post from Chris Mannix, representatives from Team Paul have made an offer to Ryan Garcia to face Paul in December instead of the original November 14 date for the Davis fight. It appears Garcia is not the only fighter to be approached.
With the fight 2 weeks away, it remains to be seen whether this widely criticised exhibition goes ahead, or whether we see Paul vs Garcia. But with Netflix involved, a huge name to face Paul will almost certainly be demanded.
