Jake Paul opens up about working with Gervonta Davis

The Jake Paul vs Gervonta Davis exhibition was met with widespread criticism following its announcement, despite the undercard featuring some quality fighters.

Following Tank’s recent legal troubles, Most Valuable Promotions and Netflix have decided not to proceed with the event, leaving Jake Paul seeking a new opponent for December. This has left Paul furious, with “El Gallo” posting his honest opinion of Davis on his X account.

Jake Paul Opens Up About His Experience With Davis

The MVP press release announced the cancellation of the bout:

“Most Valuable Promotions and Netflix have announced that Jake Paul vs. Gervonta Davis, originally scheduled for Friday, November 14 at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida, will no longer be moving forward.”

Via his X account, Paul could not hide his true feelings about Davis:

“Gervonta Davis is an actual walking human piece of garbage. Working with him is an absolute nightmare. The unprofessionalism, the bizarre requests, the showing up hours late to shoots. To the numerous arrests and related accusations and lawsuits. If you support this man you support the most vile sin a man can commit.

“I didn’t want to give this woman abuser a platform to grow his fans and to grow his bank account. My company champions women. I’m so sorry to everyone involved. Mostly to the undercard fighters, to my team at MVP and to my team who worked so hard prepping for this fight. Sacrificing time with loved ones and kids just for this fool to lose his unintelligent mind again. It’s scary that devilish men like this can rise to the top of culture and sports, including in positions of power.

“I hope you people moving forward look beyond his fake streetwear pieces “SWAG” and search for something deeper to be a fan of. As for me it’s on to the next one as always. Anyone. Anytime. Any place.

– Jake”

What Happens Next?

Following the news of Davis having another domestic violence accusation against him, it became clear that MVP was exploring alternative options, with Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated reporting that  Ryan Garcia had been approached to replace Tank.

It appears Paul will be back in December, but who will “El Gallo” face? Should the event remain on Netflix, a well-known opponent will be in high demand. A Tommy Fury or KSI bout would garner huge interest, but neither seems ready to face Paul in 4 weeks.

A rematch with Anderson Silva or Nate Diaz looks more likely. Paul’s reputation appears rightly unmoved, but Tank’s has taken a significant hit.
