Holyfield has fun with “ear jokes” about PPE mask

With social distancing and isolation due to the Coronavirus outbreak now in second full month, we’re all looking for a little humor to get us through each day. And, former four-time World Heavyweight Champion, Evander Holyfield, provided some earlier on Tuesday.

Holyfield, who is already made it known he’s interested in a comeback for exhibition fights at 57 years of age, decided to make light of internet memes. Those have been showing that he can’t possibly put a protective “PPE mask” on his face because he only has one ear:

As Holyfield joked, he actually does have both ears, it was just part of his left ear that was bitten off in his rematch fight with Mike Tyson for the Undisputed Titles in 1997.

That bizarre incident is still arguably the most memorable of Holyfield decorated career, which included him also winning the World Cruiserweight Championship.

Holyfield announced late last week that he intends to get back in the ring at some point and possibly, as soon as this Summer in what wold likely be a three round fight. The question becomes: would he fight an exhibition against Tyson?

Tyson has released social media videos showing him going through speed punching drills and trying to get back in shape at age 53.

As our Marquis John’s wrote on Sunday, it seems more logical that Holyfield might do an exhibition with fellow former Undisputed Heavyweight champ, Riddick Bowe. Those two squared off in three memorable showdowns in early-mid 1990s, with Bowe winning the first and the third battles.

Holyfield, who last fought in 2011, has become a mentor to Bowe, how that they are both retired. And, has even welcomed him to his South Florida boxing gym to help train him to get back in shape and to try to get his life together after having been divorced and losing most of his money.

And, while we wait to find out if all the “comeback” talk for Holyfield, Tyson and maybe even, Bowe, it’s at least good to see that Holyfield can still laugh about things, when it calls for it.
