Mexico is steeped in boxing history with legends like Canelo Alvarez, Julio Cesar Chavez Sr and Marco Antonio Barrera having thrilled fans across the world. Golden Boy Promotions have recently ramped up its recruitment of elite prospects, with names like Joshua Edwards joining Oscar De La Hoya’s stable. The latest addition is light heavyweight prospect Yair Gallardo, who has signed a co-promotional deal with Golden Boy and Miguel Cotto Promotions.

Yair Gallardo Joins Golden Boy in Co-Promotional Deal
Following the recent signings of Edwards and Tristan Kalkreuth, among others, Golden Boy have now announced the signing of Mexican Yair “Manotas” Gallardo, who will be co-promoted alongside Miguel Cotto Promotions.
Revealing his gratitude regarding the co-promotional deal, Gallardo said: “I’m very happy and grateful to Miguel Cotto Promotions and Golden Boy for having their eye and trust in me.”

Gallardo enjoyed an impressive amateur career, winning national titles and numerous other honours. The Mexican has shown plenty of power since turning professional in 2022. He picks his punches well, and it’s going to be intriguing to see how he progresses under the guidance of Golden Boy.

Discussing the signing of Yair Gallardo, Oscar De La Hoya said: “Yair is yet another investment Golden Boy is making in the future of the light heavyweight division—an exciting young talent who proudly represents his Mexican roots.”
“He truly lives up to his nickname, Manotas, which means ‘heavy hands’, and has been stopping his opponents with knockout power. We believe we may be witnessing the rise of another Mexican superstar this Saturday on our August 2 card.”
