Gervonta Davis vs Jake Paul: Rolly Romero Gives Honest Reaction

On Wednesday, August 20, it was announced that Cruiserweight Jake Paul will fight WBA lightweight titlist Gervonta “Tank” Davis in an exhibition bout on November 14 at State Farm Arena in Atlanta. Gervonta Davis vs Jake Paul will stream live on Netflix to its subscribers and has sparked a huge debate in the sporting world, with the two fighters separated by an astonishing 65 pounds. The current WBA welterweight world champion, Rolly Romero, has spoken honestly to Fight Hub TV about the exhibition.

Gervonta Davis vs Jake Paul Exhibition Confirmed for Netflix on November 14

Paul Speaks Out on Tank Fight

Gervonta Davis (30-0-1, 28 KOs) vs Jake Paul (12-1, 7 KOs) is not a fight many would have had on their 2025 bingo card, and Dan Rafael revealed that sources told Fight Freaks Unite this bout will be a 10-round exhibition with the result not counting on either fighter’s official record.

Paul had been heavily linked to a fight with Anthony Joshua, with Most Valuable Promotions co-founder Nakisa Bidarian revealing to Sky Sports that talks were underway for the fight to take place at the beginning of 2026. This still appears to be the plan, with the exhibition against Davis happening before.

Davis has been heavily linked to a rematch against Lamont Roach, which now appears permanently off the table. Davis’s legal troubles since have made his future uncertain, but following the news that Davis was arrested in June on a domestic violence charge that was dropped last week, the Tank-Paul fight has now been announced.

Paul said regarding the upcoming showdown with Davis: “Gervonta is an angry little elf who has been disrespecting my name for too long.”

“His nickname might be Tank, but I’m an FPV drone and I’m about to disable his ass. Yes, he is one of the top pound-for-pound boxers in the world, but my motto is anyone, anytime, any place, against all odds. And I like my odds. First, I am going to kill David, then I will go on to slaughter Goliath (Joshua), and you are all going watch me do it, breaking viewership records again. Atlanta. Friday, Nov. 14th. The worst night of Gervonta’s career, live only on Netflix.”

Gervonta Davis vs Jake Paul: Rolly Romero Gives His Honest Reaction

When asked, would it affect Tank’s legacy were Paul to beat him or knock him out, Romero said: “Tank’s a three-division world champion, four-time, three-division world champion. At the end of it, bro, you can’t take anything away from him.

“Bro, you can’t be mad at somebody for doing what they feel is best for the. It’s the same way (Lamont) Roach feels Tank is the best option for him. Same way that (Shakur) Stevenson thinks Tank’s the best option for him,” said Rolly.
