George Liddard’s first defence of his British & Commonwealth middleweight title confirmed

Matchroom Boxing has announced that British and Commonwealth middleweight champion George Liddard will make the first defence of his titles against Tyler Denny at the Copper Box Arena in London on March 21.

Alongside the main event, a litany of rising stars are set to appear on the card, including English lightweight champion Giorgio Visioli.

George Liddard set for first defence against Tyler Denny

Liddard (13-0, 8 KOs) was last seen in action, putting in an impressive performance to stop Kieron Conway and win the middleweight titles. It was a breakout win for the 23-year-old from Billericay.

Liddard was a multiple-time national champion as an amateur, and since turning professional, he has progressed rapidly. When you watch him fight, his versatility stands out. If he fights off the front foot or back foot, he looks equally comfortable.

He uses his jab well, controlling the tempo and distance in his fights. He carries power, but it’s the way he puts his punches together that’s most impressive.

Denny (21-3-3, 1 KO) suffered a tough stoppage loss against Hamzah Sheeraz in 2024 before bouncing back with wins against Elvis Ahorgah and Grant Dennis. The Rowley Regis fighter brings a wealth of experience to the ring. He’s a durable fighter who has an impressive engine and adapts well during fights. It remains to be seen if his experience will be enough to overcome the more youthful Liddard.
