Boxing Legend George Foreman Passes Away at 76

George Foreman: His Greatest Triumphs

The statement via the Instagram of “Big George” read: Our hearts are broken. With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved George Edward Foreman Sr., who peacefully departed on March 21, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. A devout preacher, a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud grand and great grandfather, he lived a life marked by unwavering faith, humility, and purpose.

A humanitarian, an Olympian, and two-time heavyweight champion of the world, he was deeply respected — a force for good, a man of discipline, conviction, and a protector of his legacy, fighting tirelessly to preserve his good name — for his family.

We are grateful for the outpouring of love and prayers, and kindly ask for privacy as we honor the extraordinary life of a man we were blessed to call our own.”

His Greatest Triumphs and Bob Arum’s Tribute

His memorable win at 45 years old against Michael Moorer, becoming the oldest heavyweight champion in history, a record that still stands today with its place in boxing folklore certain. Coming back after 10 years as a Christian minister to win the heavyweight title feels more like a Hollywood script than real life, but ‘Big George’ made it happen.

He will forever be remembered for his exceptional punch power and fearless attitude which saw him pummel Ken Norton and play his part in the forever-remembered Rumble in the Jungle.

Top Rank chairman Bob Arum said in a statement: “George was a great friend to not only myself but to my entire family. We’ve lost a family member and are absolutely devastated.”

Away from the Ring

Away from the ring, Foreman will always be remembered for the George Foreman Grill, which has incredibly sold more than 100 million units across the globe and led to “Big George” selling commercial rights to the grill for $138 million in 1999.

Foreman’s legacy is survived by his 12 children, ensuring his memory lives on.
