Floyd Schofield vs Gervonta Davis: Schofield Sr Predicts Devastating Finish

On June 27, at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Floyd Schofield delivered a career-best performance by demolishing Tevin Farmer in the opening round of their lightweight clash. It was his first fight since his entertaining win over Rene Tellez Giron, and he announced his return to big-time boxing against Farmer, following his high-profile withdrawal from a bout against Shakur Stevenson. After his impressive win against Farmer, Floyd Schofield Sr has spoken to Fight Hub TV, predicting what would happen if his son were to face Gervonta Davis (30-0-1, 28 KOs).

Floyd Schofield vs Gervonta Davis: Schofield Sr Discusses

In the first fight on the DAZN PPV broadcast, Floyd Schofield (19-0, 13 KOs) made a huge statement, stopping Tevin Farmer (33-9-1, 8 KOs, 1 NC) in the opening round of their scheduled 10-round lightweight. Schofield first showed his power, dropping Farmer with a right hook to the head, but was soon knocked down again following a barrage of punches.

Following another brutal barrage of punches from the 22-year-old, the referee stepped in to end the fight, with Farmer still on his feet.

When talking to Fight Hub TV, Schofield Sr was clear what would happen if his son faced Gervonta “Tank” Davis: “Floyd will stop Tank. That’s why they won’t choose us. That’s why they retiring. Floyd will stop Tank.

“We already know it. We watched Tank get stopped plenty of times in here. He’s not new, he’s not invincible,” added Schofield Sr.

When asked if Floyd has the power to change the lightweight division, “All the champions know, ask all of them. I’ve been saying over two years now,” said Floyd Schofield.

Schofield vs Davis

Many wondered how Floyd Schofield would return after the collapse of his fight with Stevenson. He silenced his doubters with a brutally efficient performance against Farmer.

The future for Davis is far from certain, with a possible rematch against Lamont Roach later this year. His hunger for the sport appears diminished, but fans would love to see him rediscover his drive and face the top lightweights, including Schofield.

It’s hard to imagine an unmotivated Davis stepping in with a young lion like Schofield, but the Jersey City native’s power and boxing IQ make him a threat to anyone in the division. If both fighters are 100% and it can be made, sign me up for Schofield vs Davis.
