Edgar Berlanga Unveils ‘Hit List’ After March 15 Destruction
On March 15, Edgar Berlanga (23-1, 18 KOs) made his return to the ring against Jonathan Gonzalez-Ortiz (20-1-1, 16 KOs) on the undercard of Austin “Ammo” Williams vs Patrice Volny. “The Chosen One” despite overcoming a bout of flu in the build-up to the fight, made quick work of his opponent, stopping him in the opening round to win the vacant WBO NABO super middleweight title. Immediately after the win, Berlanga made it clear the calibre of fights he wants to face.

It has been widely reported that Berlanga is now a free agent following this win in Orlando. Despite him leaving Matchroom, Eddie Hearn joined Berlanga in the ring following the co-main event. The Brooklyn native quickly revealed he only wants to face the best: “Jaime Munguia, Jermall Charlo, Caleb Plant and Canelo [Alvarez],” Berlanga told Chris Mannix inside the ring, when discussing who he wants to fight.
Hearn also had his say on who Berlanga should face next, describing a potential fight against Caleb Plant as a “brilliant fight.” The 28-year-old Puerto Rican national quickly grabbed the mic and shouted “f—k Plant” four straight times.
Edgar Berlanga Career Recapped

Following some comfortable yet underwhelming performances, the Puerto Rican national knocked out Padraig McCrory in the sixth round. He then got the fight he craved against Canelo Alvarez and despite a brave performance, he was beaten by a unanimous decision, with the judge’s scorecards reading 118-109 x2 and 117-110.
At Big Fight Weekend, we are hoping for Plant-Berlanga.
