Eddie Hearn Reveals Insights on Terence Crawford’s Next Moves and Fight Potential

On August 3/4 we saw Terence Crawford create history at the BMO Stadium in LA, defeating Israil Madrimov to win the WBA super welterweight title and the vacant WBO interim belt. Attention quickly turned to what Crawford would do next, and Turki Alalshikh recently revealed to Charlie Parsons on X the only fight he believes Bud wants is Canelo Álvarez. The Omaha native has also been ordered by the WBO to face WBC and WBO champion, Sebastian Fundora. Despite all these rumours circulating, Eddie Hearn has shared a fascinating insight on the future of Crawford when speaking to Fight Hub TV.

Eddie Hearn Talks Future for Terence Crawford and Return of Madrimov

Eddie Hearn Hints at Crawford Retirement

When speaking to Fight Hub TV, Hearn was asked about the return of Madrimov and if a rematch with Bud Crawford was feasible: “We won’t get the rematch. I don’t think Terence Crawford will ever fight again unless he gets Canelo. I don’t think Crawford will fight again.”

He continued: “He definitely won’t fight Vergil Ortiz, won’t rematch Madrimov, he’s made a lot of money, and I think he’s comfortable isn’t he?”

Hearn then spoke regarding the possible next step for Madrimov: “His Excellency has reached out to us and Madrimov and said I’d like you on the December 21 card, so hopefully that can happen – and chasing the big fights at 154.”

“Well see what happens with Terence,” added Hearn.

Boots vs. Crawford and Canelo vs. Crawford

Hearn was then asked if a Boots Ennis fight would motivate Crawford, and Hearn said: “No, he knows how dangerous that fight is, and he knows it won’t pay the money that the risk warrants just yet, but maybe in 6-12 months maybe that’s the mega-fight he needs.”

The Matchroom CEO then revealed he believed Boots would beat Crawford, and when asked why, he said without hesitation: “Too good, too young, too fresh.”

Asked about the likelihood of Canelo vs. Crawford, Hearn said: “Let’s see what happens against Edgar Berlana. We’re hoping we can upset the applecart.”
