The 18-year-old is the son of the much-missed British, Commonwealth and European champion Willie Limond. The deal with Queensberry sees the teenager link up with one of his father’s former promoters. Drew enjoyed a comfortable shutout win over four rounds on his professional debut on August 23 against Joe Hardy.

“It is obviously amazing for me because Frank is one of the best promoters in the world, so just to be part of the team is class,” said Drew on his promotional deal. He added: “My dad had a good relationship with Frank and I think Frank liked my dad as well.”

Talking about his amateur experience, Limond said: “I’ve represented the national team of Scotland right across the world. I’ve been to the European championships, won British and obviously Scottish championships. I’ve been with Scotland in Argentina, Serbia and Italy.”

The Glasgow fighter continued: “I think I had around 30 amateur fights in the end. I can do a bit of everything, mix it upfrom long range to short. I am a sort of box fighter and I hope there is a bit of power in there.”

He added: “When I saw Frank earlier in the year he said we would be doing four-rounders maybe five times a year and then work up from there.”

Frank Warren also spoke on the deal and about the meaning of signing the son of Willie Limond: “This signing of Drew means a lot to me because I was very fond of his dad and was honoured when he came to see me asking me to promote his son. He kept in touch over the following days saying how happy he was that Drew was coming to us, then we received the shocking news of his sudden passing.”
