Diego Pacheco Speaks With Dan Rafael
On His Development So Far
“I feel very good about the way my career has been going,” said Pacheco. “With the team that I have, the training team, with the management team, with the promotional company that I have behind me. I’m just grateful. Matchroom I feel has done an amazing job and taken my career from pro debut to now 21-0, headlining shows in different states, differentcountries, and now I’m headlining in my backyard of LA and in an amazing arena…Next Saturday we’re going for 22-0 against a tough, hard opponent, but I’ll show the world why I belong here and why I’m the next guy at 168.”

On Training With David Benavidez
“It’s helped me a lot. Me and David [Benavidez] have done thousands and thousands of rounds of sparring together in the past five years. David is one of those guys if you’re around him he just wants to make you better. He wants to see you reach your full potential and I’ve seen that with the way he, obviously with me, the way he tries to correct certain things for me or he tries to tell me things that he thinks will work for me…I helped him get ready for that Caleb Plant fight and he did amazing. David is a really great guy to be around, especially if you are training to fight in these big fights. Senior Benavidez [David Benavidez’s father] has been in the corner of a lot of world championship fights. He’s got that experience and it gives me that confidence when I have him in my corner.”
