Diego Pacheco Chasing Dream World Title Shot Against Legendary Champion

On August 31, unbeaten super middleweight prospect Diego Pacheco (21-0, 17 KOs) will return to the ring to face the experienced Polish fighter Maciej Sulecki (32-2, 12 KOs). The entire card will be at the Dignity Health Sports Park, Carson, and be for the WBC USA super middleweight title and the WBO International belt. Ahead of this upcoming challenge, Pacheco has spoken to Talksport about his dream world title fight.

Pacheco Reveals Dream World Title Fight

The LA native will return for his second fight in 2024 when he faces Sulecki. The Polish fighter has only lost twice in his career against Daniel Jacobs and Demetrius Andrade.

Pacheco is an exciting contender, and at just 23 years old, it feels like we are just scratching the surface of his vast potential. He carries plenty of power and picks his shots extremely well. His previous win was a tough unanimous decision victory over the previously unbeaten Shawn McCalman. His most impressive career win to date was his KO win over Marcelo Coceres.

Victory for the Renton resident will propel him further up the rankings and could that mean he’s one step closer to a world title shot against Canelo Alvarez? When speaking to Talksport, Pacheco said: “It would obviously be a dream come true as Canelo is the king in the boxing world at the moment and has been for a few years.”

He continued: “I have got to spar with him, be on his undercard and be around him and he has seen me fight. Obviously, it would also be a dream come true to share the ring with him especially for a world title and ultimately that is the goal.”

Pacheco added: “That’s where I am trying to get to and if it was just up to me, I feel like I am ready for any of those guys in the top ten at 168lbs.”
