David Morrell Historically Headlines Final Showtime Card
The unfortunate end of Showtime Championship Boxing comes up Saturday night in Minneapolis, MN and Cuban-born super middleweight contender David Morrell is ready to embrace it.
Morrell, 9-0, 8 KOs, will defend his WBA secondary super middleweight title against veteran Sena Agbeko in a scheduled 12-rounder. And, at their final media session on December 14, he made clear that he’s eager to headline (and be the answer to a trivia question) on Showtime’s last card after a 37-year run in the premium service/PPV boxing business.
Morrell’s family from Cuba will also be allowed to attend one of his pro fights for the first time, giving him piece of mind for this historic occasion.

David Morrell Speaks on Headlining Last Showtime Card
“This is a great opportunity to headline the last fight on SHOWTIME. I was ready for him in April and I’m ready for him (Agbeko) now. I’ll show him and anyone who doubts me….” Morrell said Thursday.
“I feel great to have this opportunity. My family is coming here to watch me for the first time. This is my time and this is my moment. I want everything.”
It’s Morrell’s Turn
He will get the chance to show off his spectacular punching power against a man in Agbeko – who has only been stopped once in 30 pro fights (28-2).
And, if Morrell can deliver something memorable, it joins the amazing roll call of fighters and fights from Mike Tyson to Floyd Mayweather to Evander Holyfield to Julio Cesar Chavez to Canelo Alvarez that have all appeared on Showtime Boxing and/or PPV.
