David Haye Delivers Huge Claim on Moses Itauma’s Potential

On August 16, at the ANB Arena in Riyadh, Moses Itauma (13-0, 11 KOs) dazzled once again as he comprehensively defeated Dillian Whyte (31-4, 21 KOs) in the first round of their heavyweight bout. Whatever stage you believe Whyte is at in his career, this was a brutally efficient showing from the Queensberry fighter. Speculation quickly began over who might be next for Itauma. Former cruiserweight and heavyweight world champion David Haye, spoke to BoxNation, claimed he believes Itauma can beat every heavyweight apart from one.

Many felt Whyte could take Itauma to places he’d yet to visit, but the Slovakian-born Brit had other ideas and quickly settled into his stride, before landing a left hook to the temple that left Whyte on shaky legs. The 20-year-old then showed his exceptional finishing ability, as he unleashed a vicious barrage of unanswered punches that had “The Body Snatcher” all at sea.

A right hand soon landed, sending Whyte crashing to the canvas. Despite getting to his feet in time, he stumbled back into the corner, leaving the referee to wave the fight off.

David Haye entertained from the cruiserweights right through to winning the WBA heavyweight title against Nikolai Valuev. His speed and power made him one of the most popular fighters in the United Kingdom. When speaking to BoxNation, Haye made it clear just how far he believes Itauma can go:

“I think he beats everybody in the world…except Usyk,” Haye said.

Haye was then asked to confirm he believes Itauma would defeat the likes of Joseph Parker and Agit Kabayel:

“Yeah, I think he’d beat (them). I think he beats everyone. I think he beats Tyson Fury, I think he beats Anthony Joshua, I think he beats everybody,” said Haye.

“He’s like a bigger version of me, but just as fast. Kind of reminds me of Lennox Lewis, just going to get better and stronger, and faster and more resilient,” added The Hayemaker.
