David Benavidez drops five-word prediction ahead of Anthony Yarde showdown
On Saturday, November 22, the stacked Ring IV card takes place at the ANB Arena in Riyadh, headlined by David Benavidez vs Anthony Yarde on DAZN Pay-Per-View.
The main event will be for Benavidez’s WBC and WBA “regular” light heavyweight title, with a stellar supporting cast, full of intrigue and action.
Ahead of this massive card, Benavidez spoke to Dan Rafael on the Big Fight Weekend boxing podcast, where he broke down his fight with Yarde, delivering a five-word promise.
David Benavidez breaks down upcoming Anthony Yarde clash
David Benavidez vs Anthony Yarde (27-3, 24 KOs) is an intriguing clash, with both carrying plenty of proven power. It remains to be seen if Yarde’s best remains in order to deal with Benavidez. “The Monster Bandera Roja” will be full of confidence after his impressive win against David Morrell. Yarde has not mixed at the highest level since he lost to Artur Beterbiev in 2023.
When asked about Anthony Yarde and his record of 0-2 in world title fights, Benavidez (30-0, 24 KOs) said to Dan Rafael:
“Yeah, he’s a good fighter, but unfortunately for him, he’s going to be 0 and 3 in world title fights. Like I said, he’s put on some great performances, but nonetheless, he’s come up short every single time.
“And you know, I put myself on the same level, or if not better than, those champions that you mentioned, like Beterbiev, and Kovalev, but he’s going to come in tremendous shape. He’s a strong fighter. I just feel like I’m in a different level right now.
“I feel like I’ve seen that type of fighting style before over and over again. But, you know, like I said, I didn’t take him easily. I didn’t take him lightly. I’m not overlooking him. I heard his trainer saying that I’m overlooking him. I’ve never overlooked anybody. That’s why I’m in the position I’m in right now. And if anything, I’ll probably train harder for him than I have anybody else.”
Talking about a way to victory:
“I’m in tremendous shape, and I feel really good, and I see a lot of opportunities for me to hurt him in a lot of different cases. So, you know, I’ve put together a great game plan. Now it’s just for me to go in there, follow my game plan, keep my distance, use the jab, attack the body, throw the combinations, and just continue to attack
“But like I said, I see a lot of holes in this game, and if I follow my game plan perfectly, I see myself stopping him,” added Benavidez, revealing his five-word prediction.
