Dave Allen Makes Important Move, Eyes Title Opportunities

On Saturday, May 17, Dave Allen (24-7-2, 19 KOs) produced an impressive performance to stop Johnny Fisher in round five of their Matchroom Boxing heavyweight clash at the Copper Box Arena in London. Since then, many have speculated who the Doncaster De La Hoya will face next, and Allen has now made the next move in his career.

Dave Allen Signs New Matchroom Boxing Deal

Dave Allen Defeats Johnny Fisher

Allen produced an emphatic performance on May 17, brutally knocking out Fisher near the end of round five. Fisher was active in the first three rounds, moving and staying behind his jab, while Allen kept trying to close the distance. By the fifth round, Fisher began to tire and Allen let his hands go, almost nonchalantly, whipping in brutal body shots and big overhand rights. He mixed his attacks well, knocking Fisher down before a massive left hook and short right hand sent The Romford Bull crashing to the canvas face first.

Allen Reveals Trust With Eddie Hearn

It was announced immediately after the fight by Eddie Hearn that there was a deal in place for Matchroom to represent Allen, with intriguing options available for The White Rhino. Rumours have circulated about a possible fight against Deontay Wilder, but a bout with the winner of David Adeleye vs. Jeamie TKV II (expected this summer) – looking the most realistic option. Now, Matchroom Boxing have confirmed the signing of Allen, the future looks bright for the Doncaster native.

Dave Allen recently spoke to Pro Boxing Fans about his relationship with Eddie Hearn: “Eddie’s cool. I rung him in 2022; I needed some advice about something not even boxing related. I think I’d had two four rounders in three years. I messaged him on Instagram and said, ‘Mate I need you to ring me please. I need some advice.’ And he rung within about 30 seconds and that stuck with me.”

He added: “Another time, I was meant to box and the fight fell through. It was no fault of his and he came and gave me some money. He said, ‘Look, you’re not boxing – you’re not getting paid,’ and gave me some money. There have been times when it hasn’t been so good, but its little things like that, I don’t forget them”

After his impressive win over Fisher, Dave Allen’s future looks bright, with a title opportunity now a real possibility for The Doncaster De La Hoya.
