Canelo Alvarez Tipped to Make Boxing History with Billion Dollar Net Worth in 2026
Canelo Alvarez is once again the undisputed super middleweight champion after defeating William Scull by an uninspiring unanimous decision. As reported by Declan Taylor of The Ring, Richard Schaefer has revealed Canelo is set to make boxing history in 2026.

Richard Schaefer Reveals Predicted Financial Win for Canelo Alvarez
Canelo Alvarez began his historic four-fight deal with Riyadh Season on May 3. In his first fight, he defeated IBF champion William Scull (23-1, 9 KOs) in a dull and uneventful bout. It was 12 rounds of Scull on the back foot with Canelo (63-2-2, 39 KOs) walking him down and occasionally landing some nice body shots. It was no surprise that he got the decision, and quickly after the fight, Turki Alalshikh confirmed the Canelo-Terence Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) bout, with both fighters facing off in the ring.
Canelo-Crawford will take place on September 12 at Allegiant Stadium Las Vegas. This mega-fight will be for undisputed glory, following Canelo winning the IBF crown for Scull.
Canelo’s business manager Richard Schaefer spoke to The Ring and revealed Alvarez is edging closer to another historic milestone: “Canelo is, without any question, the smartest businessman in boxing I have ever met.
“And we are going to get him over that next hurdle… He’s going to be the first fighter to break the billion dollar net worth.
“I have zero questions about it. When? Probably next year.”

Schaefer is back alongside Canelo, and Schaefer further reveals the extent of their relationship and how they have ended up working together again: “I’m very fortunate,” Schaefer said. “I started with him when he was 17 years old. I’ve known him since then and now he’s 34.
“We worked together during the Golden Boy days and always had an amazing relationship and friendship with him. And then he reached back out. We stayed in touch. We were friends. We called each other.
“We met each other. But I was sort of retired, I’ve done my thing in boxing and was happily retired. And then he called me and he said, ‘Look, it would be great to have you back. Come and help me with everything.’
“He’s my friend. So I’m very happy to do that. I’m thrilled, excited to be working for him and with him, handling all different aspects; fight negotiations, all these other businesses, everything.”
Attention now shifts to September 12 for the Crawford mega fight. Should the Mexican defeat the Omaha native, it will be full steam ahead to 2026 when Canelo Alvarez is set to have the final two fights of his agreement with Riyadh Season.
