Bruce Carrington (15-0, 9 KOs), the unbeaten American contender is fast becoming a much talked about name in the featherweight division. “Shu Shu” is ranked No. 1 by the WBO and WBC, No. 2 by the WBO and No. 4 by the IBF. Bruce Carrington Urges Nick Ball to Accept the Challenge
Carrington Sends Clear Message to Ball
The featherweight division is an intriguing one with Nick Ball, Rafael Espinoza, Stephen Fulton and Angelo Leo as the current champions. It’s a division that could provide fascinating unification bouts, with a plethora of up-and-coming fighters eager for their opportunity.
Carrington has done everything he can up to this point, winning most of his fights with relative ease. His performances in the ring earned him a high-profile opportunity on the Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson undercard against Dana Coolwell. He also shined recently, becoming the first fighter to stop the tough Mexican Enrique Vivas.
When speaking to Boxing Social and reflecting on the weekend’s action, Carrington seemed frustrated he wasn’t near a big fight, but he did have a message for the WBA featherweight champion Nick Ball: “Nick, cmon bro. I’m here. I’m ready to fight. Let’s make it happen.”
Carrington vs Ball: Potential Venue
“Shu Shu” was then asked whether he would fight Ball abroad or prefer it to be nearer home: “I feel like it would be big either way, but I definitely feel like the crowd would be electric in New York. You know, my fan base with his fan base coming to New York, it would be electric.”
A potential match-up between Bruce Carrington and Nick Ball would attract plenty of interest. Ball is an all-action, come-forward fighter who throws with intent from varying angles. Carrington, by contrast, is a patient technician who breaks down his opponents with precision and meticulous punch selection. These contrasting styles would make for an intriguing bout.
