Ahead of this co-feature world title fight, Haney spoke honestly to Boxing Social about the challenge of facing Norman Jr.

Brian Norman Jr vs Devin Haney — Haney speaks honestly ahead of title clash

Brian Norman Jr (28-0, 22 KOs) has experienced a rapid rise, which saw him elevated from the interim WBO welterweight title to the full title after Terence Crawford chose to vacate. He began to attract interest when he stopped Giovani Santillan to win the interim belt, before knocking out Derrieck Cuevas and Jin Sasaki.

Haney (32-0, 15 KOs) has mixed at a higher level than Norman, but his career was derailed when he lost to Ryan Garcia, suffering three knockdowns. That loss was eventually expunged from his record, following Dan Rafael’s report of Garcia’s failed drug tests.

When talking to Boxing Social, Haney praised Norman, tipping the champion to bring the best out of him:

“It’s a lot of back and forth, a lot of banter between the two camps, but at the end of the day, it’s two great fighters gonna battle it out on November 22 and the best man will win,” said Haney about his upcoming fight against Norman Jr.

When asked what different challenge Norman poses, Haney said: “We gotta see. I know that he’s gonna bring the best out of me. I take nothing away from him. I think that he’s a great fighter, and these are the type of challenges that I like, and he’s the best guy at 147, so that’s why I wanna fight him.”
