Anthony Joshua vs Jake Paul: Eddie Hearn Reveals His Stance

Anthony Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs) entered his fight with Daniel Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs) on September 21, 2024, full of confidence. However, the resurgent Dubois, in top form, destroyed AJ, stopping him in the fifth round at Wembley Stadium, scoring four knockdowns on the way to victory. Since that devastating loss, speculation has been rife about when — or if — AJ will return. Recently Jake Paul announced that he wants to face Joshua. Eddie Hearn has now spoken to “The Stomping Ground” and revealed his stance on Anthony Joshua vs Jake Paul.

Joshua vs Paul: Hearn Discusses Potential Fight

Talking about the potential Anthony Joshua vs Jake Paul fight, Hearn said: “Jake’s a very clever guy, you know. I think he’s doing great things with MVP. I think he is a little bit—he wants to create crazy moments. He wants to make a huge amount of money, but sometimes there’s just delusion—it can get you in a little bit of bother. Especially when it’s physical.

“But I genuinely believe he thinks he can beat Canelo and AJ because he’s got people around him that tell him how great he’s looking in the gym. That his speed and movement will actually cause AJ a major problem. I mean, it’s quite bizarre, but if it works, it works.”

Hearn also revealed Joshua’s view on a potential Paul showdown: “When it happened, I phoned AJ. I said, ‘Look, I’m going to get the question from the media. What do you want me to say?’ and he said, ‘Tell them yeah, I’ll do it.’ I mean, why wouldn’t I? We’re not defending world titles. We’re not trying to become undisputed. We don’t own that. So we’re looking for a fight. And if there’s a huge amount of money to have a fight with Jake Paul, you’d be an idiot not to, when we’re in our position. So yeah, we’d be welcome to it.

“I don’t like the 2026 talk. Nothing’s going to change in a year. If you want to do it, let’s do it now.”
