Anthony Joshua vs Jake Paul – Devin Haney breaks it down and praises Paul

The original story from Mike Coppinger detailed that Anthony Joshua vs Jake Paul was being finalised, and that was met with mostly disbelief in the boxing world.

However, that disbelief became an undeniable reality when Most Valuable Promotions confirmed the fight via a press release. Many have had their say, both positive and negative, and Devin Haney spoke to Michelle Joy Phelps, praising Jake’s bravery for taking the fight.

Jake Paul vs Anthony Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs) has got everyone talking. Many have speculated that it will be a glorified exhibition, while others expect AJ to comprehensively outclass Paul (12-1, 7 KOs). Some view Joshua as finished and Paul as having the power to win the fight.

As Paul vs Joshua is listed as a sanctioned heavyweight bout, it’s important to take note of the rules, which are as follows:

  • The fight is scheduled for eight 3-minute rounds.
  • It is a sanctioned professional bout.
  • Paul and Joshua will wear 10-ounce gloves.
  • The only stipulation is that Joshua cannot weigh more than 245 pounds.

Devin Haney praises Jake Paul’s bravery

Speaking to Phelps, Haney did not hide his admiration for Paul in taking this fight:

“I was surprised that Jake took the fight rather than Anthony Joshua. Anthony Joshua has fought the best fighters in the world, you know.

“He’s a solidified champion. But I’m surprised that Jake took the fight and is fighting a guy that’s so dangerous, like Anthony Joshua, so I gotta take my hat off to him. ‘Cause we were saying that, ‘oh, he’s fighting this person past their prime. This person’s old and this and whatnot.’ And now he’s fighting AJ. So, you gotta take your hat off to Jake,” said Haney.

When Anthony Joshua vs Jake Paul was announced, Most Valuable Promotions further revealed that the kickoff press conference will take place on Friday, November 21, at 1pm at Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida. This build-up looks set to be spicy, but it’s difficult to see anything other than a brutal KO win for AJ, assuming he retains some of his old ability.
