Eddie Hearn makes bold Anthony Joshua prediction and names Tyson Fury warm-up fight

The heavyweight division continues to create many headlines in the world of boxing, whether it’s Anthony Joshua vs Jake Paul, or what’s next for Moses Itauma. With Tyson Fury returning to action on April 11 against Arslanbek Makhmudov, the Joshua vs Fury rumours have continued to swirl, and Eddie Hearn spoke in a media huddle, naming the warm-up fight he would welcome for Joshua in preparation for facing Fury at the end of the year.

Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury rumours

Speaking on The Stomping Ground recently, Hearn rubbished the latest round of Joshua vs Fury rumours:

“It’s completely untrue. There is absolutely nothing signed with Anthony Joshua to fight Tyson Fury next. There is nothing agreed. There has been conversations and deep conversations prior to the accident that he was going to fight Jake Paul, then he was gonna fight in February or March in Saudi Arabia, then he was gonna fight Tyson Fury.

“Again, nothing signed, and then obviously the accident happened. Since then, there has been no conversations really, about that fight, other than in the last few days, conversations with Dr Rakan, Sela, starting to think about revisiting the plan. And I will go into camp with Anthony Joshua next week, when he starts, and we will start having conversations about what is next.

“Those conversations will go in tandem with Turki Alalshikh, Sela, and everybody to see the position regarding a Tyson Fury fight. We are more than up for that fight, but AJ needs to go back into camp, and we need to understand physically how long it will take him to return to boxing.”

“Right now, there isn’t even a guarantee that he returns to the ring,” added Hearn.

Eddie Hearn names Deontay Wilder as warm-up fight for Anthony Joshua

Speaking in a media huddle, Eddie Hearn discussed Anthony Joshua vs Deontay Wilder:

“We need a warm-up fight before we fight Tyson Fury. Because AJ’s coming off the accident, he’s rehabilitating his body, etc. We’ll take Deontay Wilder as that warm-up fight. And then we’ll fight Tyson Fury in December.”

Hearn was then reminded that Wilder sent Chisora into retirement, and Hearn retorted: “I was there. I was sitting front row. By the way, I respect Wilder, and I think he looked much better in that fight than he has done previously. But let me tell you, cuz I was six feet away, Anthony Joshua will walk through Deontay Wilder within three rounds.”
