Amanda Serrano Enjoying Limelight Prior To Saturday Bout

With the ramp up well under way for her upcoming Saturday night co-feature fight on the Jake Paul-Tyron Woodley II undercard in Tampa, Unified Ladies World Featherweight champ Amanda Serrano is certainly enjoying the limelight. This, as Serrano was designated on Tuesday as the World Boxing Council’s female fighter of the year in recognition of her continuing success in 2021,

Serrano has already made two successful title defenses of her ladies 126 lb. championships this year defeating Daniela Bermudez by knockout in March and then, decisioning Yamileth Mercado on the first Paul-Woodley undercard back in August in Cleveland.

At 41-1-1, the Puerto Rican born-New York raised Serrano is arguably the most prominent female active fighter in the country. And, she is one of the top two or three “pound for pound” fighters in the world. This is one reason why Paul has put her under his promotional umbrella and has her once again, as part of his PPV fight card at the Amalie Arena in downtown Tampa Saturday night.

Hear us previewing the Paul-Woodley rematch PPV with Serrano as the co-feature on our latest Big Fight Weekend Podcast with Marquis Johns and David Payne from the U.K. by clicking below:

Speaking of that arena, it is the home to the two-time defending Stanley Cup champion Tampa Bay Lightning. And, Serrano was a guest on Tuesday night prior to Tampa Bay’s thrilling home win in overtime over the LA. Kings. As you can see from this video, Serrano got the Lightning crowd fired up by participating in the pregame video and special effects show for the fans by “firing the coils” that ignites lightning special effects just before the start of the game,

Now, Serrano hopes to have the same fireworks on Saturday when she fights WBA Lightweight titleholder Miriam Gutierrez in a 10-round non-title bout.

One thing is for sure, she’s gotten more attention from being associated with the Paul’s and their two PPVs than Serrano has had in the previous 12 years of her career combined. And, an impressive showing against Gutierrez will only continue that.
