Great Boxers in Their 40s: Vitali Klitschko

Vitali Klitschko rose to the top of the heavyweight division in the late 90s, defeating fighters such as Herbie Hide and dominating many other opponents. After defeating Danny Williams, the Ukranian had a four-year hiatus to focus on politics.

Following his return, he would never be defeated again. After turning 40, “Dr. Ironfist” defeated Tomasz Adamek, Derek Chisora and Mahmoud Charr. He was a dominating fighter, who would work off his ramrod jab before letting his right hand go. A fearsome heavyweight who went 3-0 after turning 40.

Manny Pacquiao

Manny Pacquiao deserves every accolade he receives. A world champion in eight different weight classes, he has dazzled and defeated many great fighters, including Juan Manuel Marquez, Ricky Hatton and Oscar De La Hoya.

Archie Moore

Light heavyweight fighter Archie Moore fought from 1935 to 1963. He retired with an unbelievable record of 186-23-10, 132 KOs. He shared the ring with some of the greatest fighters of all time, including Cassius Clay, Rocky Marciano and Floyd Patterson.

His record after turning 40 was an astonishing 44-4-2, with him last winning a light heavyweight title fight against Giulio Rinaldi aged 47.
