The winner of this eliminator will be mandated to face the winner of the rematch between Lewis Crocker and Paddy Donovan for the IBF welterweight title, vacated by Jaron Ennis.
The Queensland native recently announced his move to welterweight, foregoing an IBF super lightweight eliminator against Lindolfo Delgado, for the right to face Richardson Hitchins, who won the super lightweight title from Paro.

Liam Paro made his welterweight debut on June 25, defeating Jonathan Navarro, who retired at the end of the fifth round. Following that win, the Australian signed with No Limit Boxing, which staged his fight with Navarro.
“I’ve been to the top before. I know what it takes to become a champion but this time, it’s about more than a belt,” Paro said. “It’s about becoming the name people talk about for years to come. To fight for a world title shot in my home state, in a venue as iconic as Pat Rafter Arena, is something special. David Papot is tough, seasoned, and coming here to win, but I’ve sacrificed too much to let this slip.”
Liam Paro vs David Papot
Papot will only be fighting out of his native France for the second time in his career. His best wins have come against Bilal Jkitou and Josh Wagner. From his southpaw stance, he is adept at staying disciplined behind his jabs and whipping in hooks. The Frenchman wastes very little and picks his punches impressively. His style will keep Paro honest.

Paro is precise with his work and has the defensive skills to avoid his opponents’ punches. These will be vital for the Aussie in dealing with Papot’s left hand. He is also adept at working the body, a tool that could help soften Papot up.
Despite Papot’s record, it’s difficult to look past a Paro victory.
