Kenshiro Teraji and Seiya Tsutsumi Triumph on Action-Packed Tokyo Card

At the Ariake Arena in Tokyo, Japan, on October 13, we saw Kenshiro Teraji produce a dominating performance against Cristofer Rosales. Following this dominating win, we moved on to the main event of the Teiken Promotions card, where Seiya Tsutsumi (12-0-2, 8 KOs) produced an action-packed performance, defeating Takuma Inoue (20-2, 5 KOs). Fight fans in the United States could catch the action on ESPN+. Those in Japan could watch on Prime Video, while UK fans could watch on Sky Sports+.

Takuma Inoue vs. Seiya Tsutsumi Recap

The opening round saw a mostly cagey opener, with Takuma Inoue and Seiya Tsutsumi feeling each other out and having limited success. The second round saw Inoue pick his shots well, with Tsutsumi looking to apply the pressure.

The third round saw Tsutsumi back Inoue against the ropes and work his body. The champion showed his slick defence before landing a short, sharp uppercut, rocking his opponent momentarily. Round five was the best round for Tsutsumi as he applied constant pressure and had success throughout the round. Inoue still looked slick with his defence, but he got caught more in this round. The sixth round was again a strong round for the challenger – who kept his aggressive approach and began landing even more.

The pressure from Tsutsumi continued in the seventh, but Inoue began to work well off his jab again. The eighth round was again full of action with plenty of pressure and combination punching from the challenger, whose work rate is incredible. Inoue is the more accurate, but he is being outworked as the fight goes on. The ninth round was much better for the champion as he picked his punches, with the pace of the contest slowing in this round.

The tenth round produced the most dramatic moment of the fight, with Tsutsumi landing a left hook, sending Inoue into the ropes, with the referee classing it as a knockdown, much to the disgust of the champion. The eleventh saw both meet in the middle of ring, throwing bombs at each other, with the challenger arguably getting the better of the exchanges.

The final round saw both go toe-to-toe again and trade heavy shots throughout until the final bell sounded. What a performance from both men. Big Fight Weekend would love to see a rematch, as the scorecards were read. 114-113, 115-112 and 117-110 all in favour of Tsutsumi, the new WBA bantamweight champion.

In the post-fight interview, a clearly emotional Tsutsumi said through the interpreter: “This is the moment I really wanted in my life.”

He added: “It feels surreal to me. I cannot believe this right now.”

The opening two rounds saw a bright start for Kenshiro Teraji (24-1, 15 KOs), who worked well off his jab. Cristofer Rosales (37-7, 22 KOs) was looking to land heavier shots but the Japanese fighter was moving in and out of range well.

The third round saw a huge right hand from Teraji, which rocked Roasales, who went into survival mode to make it to the bell. The fourth round saw the Mexican fighter land a short left hand, which momentarily stunned his opponent. Aside from that punch, it was an impressive fourth round from Teraji who picked his shots impressively.

The next two rounds saw Teraji maintain his high work rate and land the more telling blows as Rosales had no more than fleeting single punch moments. As the fight progressed, the accuracy of the Japanese fighter became more telling as he continued to target the damaged nose of his Mexican opponent.

Round 10 was an impressive round from Teraji as his accuracy and precision ensured he landed almost at will. At the beginning of round 11, the referee took Rosales to see the ringside physician and after a short conversation, the referee waved the fight off, awarding “The Amazing Boy” a dominating victory, becoming a two-weight world champion, winning the vacant WBC light flyweight title.

In the post-fight interview with an interpreter, Teraji expressed relief: “Thank you very much for your support.” He continued: “I hope I can show the new me. The second episode is going to be very good.”

Talking about his feelings before and during the fight, Teraji said: I was very nervous from the beginning and during the fight.”

“The Amazing Boy” was then asked about the future, and he said: “I am thinking about title unification. After tomorrow, we may have something to announce.”
